Let's sail away with My Little French Riviera Box!

Hello and Namaste to all!

I have been waiting very patiently for this subscription box for a while now so I was over the moon when I finally saw it on my dining table! I couldn't wait to open it and share my views about the box!

This June, I received my very first My Little Box which has been inspired by the sun, sand and sea. The boxes are compiled according to specific themes each month. I guess the box this month was inspired by the coastal areas of France because it is called The French Riviera Box. The box this month has been designed in collaboration with Sarah Lavoine who is a French interior designer. Oh not to forget, My Little Boxes come all the way from Paris! How lush is that! The prospect of it being sent all the way from France was one of the reasons why I decided to try out this box. I felt that it would in some way allow me to experience a little bit of the French culture.

When they say that "My Little Box aims to delight and surprise you every month", they are not lying! First of all, let's just appreciate how cute the box itself is! I love the art on the front and the fact that the design on their boxes change every month according to the theme. The boxes are designed artfully every month by their in house artist Kanako. My French Riviera Box came safely in a sturdy brown packaging. The box itself is strong and can be re-used to store other things.

Lost in the cuteness of the box, I totally forgot about the part where I actually placed an order for the box! I subscribed to their boxes on their website. A My Little Box costs £14.95 with postage and packaging included. I think it is one of the many expensive subscription boxes in the market however, considering that it is shipped from France to the UK, it is not that bad of a deal! I received the box after the 20th of June because it was my first box and also because they had some problems in their production process. They sent an apology email to everyone and also surprised us with a little video that gave us a glimpse of what would be in our June boxes. I thought that was really sweet and thoughtful of them! Now, moving on to the contents of the box!

This was my view when I opened the lid of the box for the first time. Everything was nicely, tied together with a customised ribbon. "This is my happy place" and indeed was I happy...

On the top, I found an artistic post card designed by Kanako. Then, a magazine which opens up into a poster that they have named "My Little World". It is a cute read. I was especially intrigued by their interview article with Sarah Lavoine.

I then found a little teal box and I instantly knew what it held inside. A pair of these really cute sunnies! These sunglasses have been exclusively designed by Sarah Lavoine. It has a matte finish and a retro look. They cost £18 and can be purchased from this website. I love the sunglasses however, I may not be able to wear it much as I am short sighted. I need prescription sunglasses. In addition to that, I do not think that the shape of the lenses suit my square/round face shape.

Just above the sunglasses were these adorable Planters duo. They are waterproof plastic pots that you can use to grow plants in or store your makeup brushes and other bits and bobs. They sent me two such plastic pots - one is smaller than the other. They cost £6.50 together. I think they will be really useful for me as I seem to always be in need of storage boxes.

Under the plastic pots, there was a little pouch which seemed to be clearly screaming out to me to be opened. Inside were three beauty products. There were also two leaflets that contained information about all the products we received in the box. The pouch seems to be of a really good quality and is so cute! I will probably be using it as my new makeup pouch when on the go!

The first thing that caught my eye was the Nail Polish Loved by Sarah Lavoine. There are two main reasons why I love this product. First of all, I love painting my nails. Second, I love the colour! I don't yet have a colour as such in my nail polish collection, so I was really happy to have received it. To be honest, the photograph does not do justice to the beautiful colour. In reality it looks kind of like teal/aqua but deeper in tone. It costs £6.50. The nail polish claims to dry quickly "while covering like a boss".

The next product I picked up in my box is the Sea Salt Fresh Scrub by My Little Beauty. It is made of Guerande sea salt crystals and Ajonc water. It claims to remove dead skin cells and leave you feeling refreshed and invigorated. It has a slight fragrance which I really like because it smells cucumber fresh! It costs £8.50 and can be purchased from My Little Beauty. The tube is a really good size and I cannot wait to try it out this summer!

The final product in my box is the Keratine Thermique, Blow-Dry Care for Unruly Hair by Kerastase. I think I received the sample size but the full 150ml size can be purchased for £20.50. It can be purchased from their website. This leave in conditioner helps to protect your hair from heat. After applying the product on your hair, you can blow dry or style your hair accordingly with heat styling tools. There are three variations in this product range. I received the one for frizzy and unruly hair which is bang on appropriate! I have thick and frizzy hair that is so stubborn that it sometimes seems to have a mind of it's own. The product claims to smooth and tame your mane while at the same time protecting it from harmful heat. The product does have fragrance but I don't mind it at all. I will definitely be trying it out very soon!

From what I had read in other blogs, My Little Box is probably one of the most loved subscription boxes in the UK. Hence, I had quite high expectations with it. I am glad that I subscribed to it this month and I have definitely not been disappointed. The products I received in the box were totally worth the money! I look forward to receiving more cute and innovative boxes in the coming months!

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post as much as I enjoyed sharing my first experience and impression of My Little Box.

Keep smiling and shining bright!

Ambika.
