Pretty excited and nervous about publishing my first ever blog post. Coincidentally, I am reviewing my first subscription beauty box in my first blog post.
I ordered my Glossy Box from their online website. The ordering process was quite quick and easy which I was quite pleased about. It came in my mail 5 days after I had placed the order. The cost of the box is £10 however, the packaging and posting costs £3.25 extra. To me, the packaging and posting cost is a teensy bit expensive. Now moving onto the fun bit - the contents of the box!
So, this is how the box came in the mail. Excuse the ripped paper at the front. I really like the fact that Glossy Box have their own customised mailing box. When you open the packaging this is what you find...
A pretty pink box!! The box is pastel pink in colour and has a logo of the brand on the lid. I love the packaging! It is so elegant and chic! The box itself is strong and of good quality. I could totally re-use this box. When you open the lid, there are some cards that list the products that you receive as well as a small letter from the editor. The products are enclosed by some tissue, a ribbon and a sticker. It is just so cute!
When I lifted the tissue, I finally got a clear view of the products in my Glossy Box. There were some paper shreddings to protect the products. I was glad that all of the products were in good condition and none of the products were missing. In a Glossy Box, the standard number of products we receive is 5. Some will be full sized products and some will be of sample size. I received 2 full sized products.
I was really happy when I found a tube of Aloe Vera moisturising gel in my Glossy Box because I have been meaning to buy one but hadn't got around to do so. I have heard quite a lot of good things about aloe vera gel and it's cooling, anti-bacterial properties.
The tube of Etre Belle Aloe Vera Moisturising Gel I received was a full sized product costing £15.93. It can be purchased from their online website. It claims to tighten fat and, revive and improve the elasticity of the skin. It seems like a moisturising gel for your face although it doesn't explicitly specify on the packaging.
I am currently using the product and I have to say that I am quite impressed so far. It moisturises my skin well without making it look oily. It isn't sticky either. It does have some kind of a fragrance that is not unpleasant. I don't usually mind fragrances in products.
The next full sized product I received was the MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Dual Ended Eye Wand. I already knew that I would be receiving this because it was one of the products that they revealed on their website for the May Glossy Box. It's price is £6.95 and it can be purchased from their website.
It is a dual ended eye shadow stick with a turquoise and a navy blue tone. I found the navy blue tone not so pigmented and may not use it much. Although I really like the turquoise colour on the other end, I feel quite mediocre about this product as I generally do not like to use eye pencils or eye shadow sticks that need sharpening. I just think it is a lot of hassle and you also end up wasting some of the product.
Now, moving on to the sample sized products. I am looking forward to trying out this particular product that claims to prevent ingrown hairs, reduce hair re-growth and soothe post-shaved/waxed skin. It is the SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate. The full sized product costs £12 and can be purchased from Boots.
I was really glad to find this product in my box because I personally suffer from ingrown hairs and find them very annoying. I cannot wait to try out this product! Although it is a sample size product, it is of a decent size so I think I can squeeze a few uses out of it.
I am quite feeling quite unsure about this product. This is the Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam in a sample size. The full sized product costs £7.95 and can be purchased from http://festival-shower-survival-kit.co.uk.
Apparently, it is the next generation of dry shampoo. I personally use dry shampoo(of the spray type) on my second day hair but this dry shampoo is a foam that you are supposed to massage in your hair and towel dry, which is why I am a bit hesitant about. It would be however, very handy for people going to festivals and camping.
Last but not the least is the sample sized Philosophy renewed hope in a jar refreshing & refining moisturiser. It can be purchased from Boots. I am a little bit disappointed by the amount of product because the tube is about as tall as my index finger. The full sized product costs £35.50!! Yes, you read it right! £35.50 for a face moisturiser!! I better be looking like a Korean actress after using it...
Although, I have neither come across this product in Boots nor heard of it, it seems like quite a miracle maker as it is apparently endorsed by celebrities and dermatologists. Due to it's price and what it claims I am looking forward to trying it out.
Overall, I am quite pleased with the products I received in my May Glossy Box. I think the best part about it is that I am getting the opportunity try new products that I haven't heard of or haven't used before. That is the whole idea behind such subscription boxes! I am most excited about the SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate that I am hoping to try out soon.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my first blog post. I also hope that this post may be useful to anyone who wants to try out Glossy Box or such subscription boxes.
Always keep smiling and shining bright!
Ambika.
